The Twenty-Seven Club

Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. All extremely talented musicians whose lives were cut short at the young age of 27. This photo series focuses on how the tragic loss of these young talents is still quite prevalent today. The ink tears streaming down their faces show the sadness that is still very real, even for the youngest generations.

Please don’t try to sit on this furniture or wear these clothes. Your eyes may try to deceive you, but each of the handsome objects you see here is made of paper. They are the work of Los Angeles-based artist Vincent Tomczyk.

“The objects are carefully crafted by hand, all of the colors you see are hand-painted and he never relies on any sort of digital printing. Translation: these take a lot of time. The jean shorts alone with functional pockets and realistic textures took over 100 hours.”

Vincent Tomczyk has a solo show opening May 4th, 2013 at Gallery 825 in LA. Visit his website to view many more of his awesome paper creations.
